PRODUCTION

Thank you to everyone who has offered their help in any way to support the school production. It will take the entire village to make this a spectacular to remember! If you have any questions re the production please ask your child’s class teacher. Last week we sent home a notice asking for help in the following areas and we still need some help especially with selling food each night:

  • Making and painting props
  • Sewing costumes
  • Tech support (lighting, media, filming, photographer)
  • Manpower
  • Backstage helpers
  • Sales assistant Tuesday 19th September (from 4.30 pm – 6.25 pm)
  • Sales assistant Wednesday 20th September (from 4.30 pm – 6.25 pm)
  • Sales assistant Thursday 21st September (from 4.30 pm – 6.25 pm)

If you can help in any of these areas and have yet to reply, can you please contact Elleen Davids [email protected] or TeAna Upson [email protected]

Production Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need to perform all 3 nights?

Yes. Every child plays an integral part in our school production. They will be required to be there all 3 nights.

What time do I need to drop my child off?

They will go home at 3pm and return to school at 5pm if they are having dinner at school or, no later than 5:30pm if they are eating at home.

When do I need to pick my child up?

As there is no finale for this show involving all the children you may be able to pick your child up after they have been on stage. Your child’s teacher will let you know when this is. We do ask though that if you are watching the show that you do not leave in the middle of the performance as this will disrupt our actors.

All other children will need to be picked up once production is finished at approximately 8.30pm and your child has changed out of their costume. You will need to pick them up from the classroom they were dropped off at. No child will be allowed to leave until they have been picked up from the allocated classroom by an adult.

Where do I take my child and pick them up from after each performance night?

Will my ticket get me in for every night?

No. Each ticket is valid for the night that is printed on the ticket.

Can my child bring their own food?

Yes, but your child will need to eat it before 5:30pm as costumes and makeup will be sorted from 5.30pm. Children can bring snacks but please bring ones that won’t stain the costumes.

I have ordered a dinner for my child, how will they get it?

All pre ordered dinners will be delivered to school at 4.45pm. They will then be taken to the class your child will be getting reading in.

I forgot to preorder dinner for my child, can I order on the night?

All orders for dinners must be preordered by Tuesday 12th September. If you miss this deadline you can either purchase food from the staffroom on the night or provide your child with dinner before they come to school.

What time is school the next day?

Your child can arrive up to 10.30am the next day after production. If your child has morning commitments (road patrol, chickens or chain gang), they will be required to discuss this with Miss McGuire or Mrs Terry.

What happens if my child is at after school care?

Please check with your child’s after school care for these arrangements.

When is the production?

Tuesday 19th September (starts 6:30pm), Wednesday 20th September (6:30pm), Thursday 21st September (6:30pm). Children need to be at school by 5pm (if eating dinner at school) or 5.30pm (if eating dinner at home).

What does my child need to wear?

Please see your child’s teacher if you are unsure about what is required. A special note has been sent out regarding this.

Can my child be picked up early?

Please discuss this with your child’s teacher as they will know the approx time your child will be performing on stage.

What makeup does my child wear?

Most children will need to come to school with a layer of foundation on their faces in preparation for any makeup so they don’t look like ghosts under the bright lights. Some children will not require foundation as they will be having their face painted instead. If you are unsure about what is required for your child please contact your child’s teacher.

What hairstyle will my child need?

Please contact your child’s teacher if you are unsure about what is required.

Can we take pushchairs or prams into the hall?

No. All aisles will need to be left clear as they are entrances and exits for the performance. They will be able to be left outside under the bathroom windows if you need to.

Are we allowed to film or photograph during the performance?

Out of respect for other members of the audience and our actors we ask that there is no flash photography.

Does my child need to be barefoot?

Yes, because it reduces the sound on the stage.

Do I need to buy a ticket for my toddler?

Whomever occupies a seat, requires a ticket. Toddlers will need to be remained seated throughout the performance.

When can my child wear their production T-shirt to school?

Your child can wear their T shirts on Wednesday’s for the rest of the year apart from special assemblies. More t-shirts will be available to order on production nights and will be ready early term 4.

BAYVIEW SCHOOL OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENTS

If you live out of our school zone and would like your child to attend Bayview School in 2024, please note that our out of zone enrolments go live on Monday 4th September. You can find the form on our website from this date. Please note we are only offering 20 out of zone places for 2024.

If we receive more than 20 applications we will have to go to a ballot according to the following priorities (set by the Ministry of Education).

Applicants are accepted in this order:

  1. First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme (please note this does not apply at Bayview School).
  2. Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school.
  3. Third priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  4. Forth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  5. Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  6. Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.

If the Board receives fewer applications than there are places available, all applicants will be enrolled.

If you currently live within our school zone and have a child starting school at any time during the 2024 academic year, please fill in the intention to enrol form on our website to help us with future planning.

Our enrolment zone can be found on our website or there is a copy in the office.

KINDO

We are working towards having all payments for anything school related on Kindo. If you haven’t already got a Kindo (ezlunch) account please make one by going to www.ezlunch.co.nz , click create an account and fill in your details. This creates your family mykindo account for easy online ordering and any allocated payables that your child has signed up for (like sport teams) or things that just apply to a group (eg. like Yr6 Graduation). Please sign up with the email address that we have on your child’s school profile, if we haven’t got your email that you have used for your Kindo account please email [email protected]

SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

Tomorrow, Friday 25th August we are holding our school cross country.

We invite all parents and caregivers to come and support their children. The approx. timetable is:

10am – 5, 6, 7 year olds

11.45am – 8 year olds

12 noon – 9 year olds

12.15pm – 10 year olds

12.30pm – 11 year olds

Please note all 5, 6, and 7 year olds will be completing a fun run sticking to concrete areas to keep them out of the mud!

8, 9, 10 and 11 year olds will have the choice to run in the fun run or the competitive run. If your child runs in the competitive run they will be trying to score a place in our interschool cross country team to compete against other schools on the 8th September. These competitive runners WILL be running in the mud and MUST bring a change of clothes to run in so they do not wreck their school uniform. Please ensure if your child is running in the competitive section that they have clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. The runners will be expected to get changed back into their uniform after the race.

DAFFODIL DAY

This year our annual Daffodil Day is on Thursday 31st August. You should have received a letter home informing you of the date and asking for a gold coin donation to support people with cancer. We thank you in advance for supporting this very worthy cause.

BAYVIEW SCHOOL BOARD STRATEGIC DIRECTION

The Bayview Board are currently seeking feedback from parents around what they see as important areas the school should focus on to ensure successful outcomes for all learners. We have sent out a survey form on Seesaw and would appreciate any and all feedback to support the Board in determining the strategic direction of the school for the next two years.

If you are unable to access Seesaw please contact your child’s teacher as they will be able to resolve any issues for you.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARENT HELPERS

A huge thank you to all our parents, caregivers and friends of Bayview School who have been able to support us this term with the variety of events we have or are holding. We are so incredibly lucky to have such a supportive community working with us in partnership to give our learners a range of opportunities.

NEW LEARNERS JOINING BAYVIEW SCHOOL
