And just like that we are at the end of term 2! Next term is going to be as exciting as this term has been as we build up to our school production. Fasten your seatbelts!

REPORTS

We are sending your child’s mid-year report home on Friday 27th June. This report shares how your child is progressing with their learning over the first half of the year. You may recall that expectations in the new curriculum have changed so what was formally expected of a year 3 learner is now expected of a year 2 learner. Please know our staff are working incredibly hard to help every child make accelerated progress with their learning so that they can be achieving at their expected level.

Next term we will be inviting you to make an appointment with your child’s teacher to discuss anything of concern in their report. Please know these meetings are not compulsory and are only for any parents who want to discuss something specific.

THANK YOU:

A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends of Bayview School who have helped our learners over term 2. Thank you for attending school trips, supporting our performing arts (Showquest and Toi), helping with Garden to Table, and coaching and managing sports teams. We really value you giving your time and expertise to support the many opportunities we provide our learners.

Next term we will be asking for helpers to support our preparation towards our whole school production. Please keep an eye on Seesaw for help requests as it always takes a village to present our school productions.

ATTENDANCE

Our attendance rate for the year is sitting at 92%.

ILLNESS

Winter has brought with it a range of illnesses affecting both our learners and our staff. We hope with the term break that the spread of illness will reduce significantly so we can all start term 3 healthy and well.

SUPPORT STAFF SUPERHEROES

This term at Bayview School we have been celebrating our wonderful support staff who work with our most vulnerable learners to support their growth both personally and academically and who look after our grounds and administration.

We are so lucky to have Erik our caretaker who continually goes above and beyond to make Bayview School such a special place. His passion for the environment is huge and his humour in dealing with the ‘tricky situations’ that occur within the school is invaluable! I am sure you agree our school campus is well kept and looked after!

Jane is our new gardener who has been working alongside Erik to make our gardens and grounds look amazing! Jane has been working so hard to bring our gardens to life and I am sure you will agree she is doing a great job.

Shannon is the most smiley and accommodating person to have as the front person in our office. Shannon is normally the first person you see when you come into the office and is very skilled in finding solutions to problems! Shannon goes out of her way to ensure every child is looked after and that parents feel supported.

We have the wonderful LaiHar who is our school bursar looking after the school finances and ensuring we stay in a great financial position.

Our wonderful kaiawhina (teacher aides) who work with our most vulnerable learners, work above and beyond to ensure these learners have equitable access to an education. We are so grateful for Angela, Larissa, Katie, Sifa, and Lisa for the aroha and laughter they bring to our school every day! Being kaiawhina takes skill, passion, fitness and lots and lots of laughter!

Our support staff are superheroes!

Term 2 finishes at 2pm on Friday 27th June.

ATTENDANCE

Our attendance rate for the year is sitting at 92%. That is awesome! Thank you so much for ensuring your child attends school regularly.

For the rest of this term we will be having a focus on lateness. We have two bells in the morning, one at 8.55am which indicates all learners should be in class ready to start the day. The next bell is at 9am which indicates the beginning of learning.
