Kia ora Team Bayview
Term 4 is our term to celebrate all the wonderful things our learners have achieved this year. The second half of the term is dedicated to many awards type ceremonies including the Onepoto Cultural festival, sports prizegiving, We Care awards ceremonies, Cultural celebrations under the COLA, End of Year prizegiving, Year 6 Graduation, and our Farewell Assembly. Dates and times for these can be found in our ‘Dates for Diaries’ section.
WALKING SCHOOL BUS
Bayview School tamariki loved meeting the Walking School Bus Mascot and are keen to get active by walking to school with friends. If you are interested in setting up or joining a Walking School Bus route, please email Ms Fink at [email protected] and she can put you in contact with route organisers.
PARKING
Thank you to those parents and caregivers who are parking legally outside the school at drop off and pick up. We do still have some people who are dropping their children off while they are parked on the yellow lines. This is illegal and dangerous! We know you see it as convenient and that you only stop for 2 minutes, but it then becomes an inconvenience for everyone else.
We do teach our children road safety, but they are children and are sometimes impulsive and it is our job as adults to ensure we follow the road rules as these are in place to keep everyone safe.
BAYVIEW HAS TALENT
Our amazing events team has been organising events to allow our learners to shine. This week we have had ‘Bayview Has Talent’ shows each first break. The children have loved being able to get up and share their passions and skills with the audience. Even some teachers were brave enough to perform (OK some of them may have been ‘volunteered’ by their classes!).
In three weeks time the events group has organised a ‘Spelling Bee’ where our talented spelling experts can join a competition to see who is the best at spelling! They are organised into year groups, Year 1 and 2, Year 3 and 4, and Year 5 and 6.
LIBRARY STOCKTAKE
On Friday the 21st November we have our library stocktake. Please make sure you have returned all library books by this date to avoid receiving an invoice for replacement costs.
MEASLES
You will be aware of current measles cases across the country. Please make sure we have your most up to date vaccination certificate on file. You can check with Shannon in the office if you are unsure. Please note that if we have an active case of measles at Bayview School we may have to ask affected students to stay at home i.e. those in close contact and those who do not have proof of full vaccination.
