Our Learning

Curriculum

At Bayview School we deliver the seven strands of the New Zealand Curriculum through an overarching concept for the year. This year our concept is ‘Sustainability’. Students will be guided through our Bayview Inquiry Cycle stages of ‘Immersion’, ‘Investigation’ and ‘So What?’. The purpose is to create interest, passion and a hunger for new knowledge and understanding in our students. They will learn to independently follow the inquiry cycle to further their learning. The cycle is not linear in design so it can go through each stage any number of times during a student inquiry.

Outside the classroom

School Camp is held every second year for our Year 5 & 6 students. Swimming is organised every second year for Year 1 – 4 students. We have whole school productions every two years. We take part in Glenfield cluster school sporting activities during the year, usually with one event each term. Our Year 4 – 6 students also have the opportunity to play cluster sports like Rippa Rugby, cricket, softball and football.

Extracurricular

At Bayview School we have the opportunity for our Year 4-6 children to take part in the school choir and Year 1-6 children to be involved in Kapa Haka. We have sport teams coached by parents that represent our school at evening and weekend fixtures during the year. These include basketball, netball, touch rugby and hockey.
